I recently got to 240 (with a couple seconds at 244) while towing a heavy trailer uphill on the interstate in 89F weather - 4000 rpm in 3rd at 55 mph. So yeah, 250 isn’t normal.The pentastar does run on the hot side for better efficiency. Also keep in mind that the coolant temperature sensor is located at the left (driver) side engine head. Coolant is pushed by the pump through the engine block (around the cylinders) then through the heads and on to the oil heat exchanger, heater core and radiator via the thermostat.What also causes the JK/JKU's to run hot, especially the Pentastar, are the steel bumpers and winches we add on - this has a direct impact on the weight in front and they do run warmer. Common causes - Leaking radiators, Radiator cap, Faulty oil coolers - nearly a trademark on the Pentastar V6, Leaking coolant bottles, faulty waterpumps etc.

Today I noticed 2 things. 1) the little rubber seal on my rear dana 35 pumpkin oozes oil when I press it. 2) the rear differential is really hot (can touch it for about 3 sec before pulling away).

Has anyone come across this and figure it out. I'm thinking it may be a faulty thermostat or something.
