It had auto trans fluid in it. I didn't think it was unusual because the suburban runs with that. What I learned from all the helpful folks is the D 300 is a gear driven design and uses gear oil (85w90).Suburban is chain driven and uses dextron. I just use the 80w90 from walmart. Just make sure you park level and fill it up until it is level with the fill hole. Dont worry about the hubs, they will get filled up. If you want, you can spin them a couple of times, wait 5 minutes, and check fluid level again.
