I purchased the Evinrude wiring harness that plugs right into the harness plug off of my throttle box. Easy enough right? What concerns me is that the Faria instructions say for an 88 and 112 hp a voltage regulator is recommended. It also says a system check tach or 2" gauge is REQUIRED.

Mar 11, 2007 · I've got a 1995 Evinrude 88 SPL, and I am getting about 120psi on all 4 cylinders. You can have as low as 80-90PSI, the key is that all 4 are withing 10% of each other. If you've got one or two cylinders that are way off, you probably have carbon buildups holding your rings down and not allowing compression, or you've got a bad piston/ring/etc.

Well a mechanic figured out my idle problem. Seems that the fuel primer/enrichment solenoid was shot and was pumping gas into the carb all the time. The idle screw had been turned way up to get the carb to process the extra fuel without choking out. $160 plus labor. 1) Make sure the throttle plate linkages are all sync'd. If all 4 are not closed/opening simultaneously you will have unbalanced fuel-air delivery and it can cause issues like this. 2) Verify your primer solenoid is working. In order to function properly, anodes need to be clean, metal to metal contact with the housing. Had it out last night and it had been running fine, went to get on plane to go to a new spot and it started to shake / miss and didn't have much power. Pulled the plugs and 2&4 are much more black and soaked than 1&3. It has new plugs and wires.
