The Defect is probably the weakest character, especially at high difficulties, but can still win the game very consistently at lower ones. Like with all characters, there are a few general builds to look for, with several variations in each. Orbs are obviously the focus of the Defect kit, and there are a few ways to use them.
You may not get the right frost cards like Glacier or Coolheaded, but you may encounter Equilibrium or Charge Battery. Sometimes, Slay the Spire is just plain rude to your desired deck building ideas. Act 1 as Defect is a breeze by front-loading a lot of damage and pushing through as many elites and camps to max out my deck and runes as much as possible in prep for Act 2. This is just some stuff to think about, not a definitive guide. Defect is definitely the hardest A20 class and the heart is so hard to beat with them. Just keep sticking to orb generation, focus generation, and adding more orb slots and you can do it. Take it slow and you will eventually break through.
