The only time I had spark was when I had the ground wire off of the coil itself. The wires looked fine from front to back and the trimmer is only 3 or 4 years old. If its not the switch, and the coil is good, it has to be in the wiring, right? And the wires from the coil go to the switch, then back to the coil/ground.
This was installed on a Troy-Built TB204C XP weed eater. The symptoms were runs great for 5 seconds and cuts off like you flipped the kill switch. Pull the chord once, and it would start right back up. This coil solved the issue, and now it runs like new. Very easy to install. The process from start to finish was around 30 minutes.
