Take handlebar off, then remove battery. Check to make sure all connectors are OK. There are 3 on the bottom and 5 on top. If OK, then re-seat everything. Do not twist handlebar, and make sure battery is aligned to pins. That may fix the issue. While handlebar if off, check to make sure brake switch is OK (visual inspection).
