The factory fuel filter, was installed level horizontally at a height that was slightly higher than the inlet of the carb. It also had a hard-line with a loop in it, between the filter and the carb. This prevents fuel from draining back to the pump, and makes start-ups faster. The fuel return line on the factory filter serves 2 purposes.
